Are You Foolish Enough to Give JetAmerica More Money?

Today in the Sky reports that despite prayers and hopes, JetAmerica might not be dead. While the carrier, which operated no planes and thus existed only on paper, folded on Friday, the chairman of the nonexistent airline wants to return this fall, basing service out of Melbourne, Florida, one of its previously proposed destinations. We suppose they’ve lost all the goodwill they had in Toledo.

We tend to agree with the Cranky Flier. “Nothing to see here. Keep moving.” To the airports who paid for marketing, or are thinking of doing so in the future…take advice from us. Give these people no money. If you want to tell them that if they actually succeed in landing a single plane at your airport several continuous times, you’ll give them a break on landing fees, that may be a risk worth taking.

To those thinking of flying on these fly-be-gone airlines, don’t take the risk unless you are prepared not to go. We know at least one person who had tickets to Newark on JetAmerica, and will have to shell out a great deal more to travel.
