As Southwest reports in a press release, Southwest Airlines this morning celebrated the phased-out repeal of the Wright Amendment with the rollout of new connecting service for Love Field.
By this Thursday, passengers can take full advantage of 25 new destinations on Southwest from Dallas Love Field Airport: Baltimore/Washington, Chicago Midway, Cleveland, Columbus, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Nashville, Oakland, Omaha, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle/Tacoma, Tampa Bay, and Tucson. Combined with the 18 existing markets the airline serves from Dallas Love Field, Southwest Customers can now travel between Dallas and a total of 43 destinations. As a promotion to all new destinations, they are offering $99 fares.
To take full advantage of this new through-ticketing ability will take time. As Nuts about Southwest and Southwest’s President comment, their Planning Department has been working for the possibility of this rollout, and in coming months, when they can retool their schedule to take full advantage of the new ability, by having single plane service, if not nonstop service to new destinations, the benefits of through ticketing will be increased.
American has also announced its through ticketing options via its St. Louis focus city.
